...ia ver o Yank: A World War II Love Story.
To say that Yank: A World War II Love Story is an unusual approach to examining the art of romance is like saying that The Invasion of Normandy was a “pretty well-coordinated effort” -- it’s an epic understatement. Deriving its name from the weekly military newspaper of the time (a publication for soldiers written by soldiers), Yank, a musical, follows Stu -- a young, Midwestern kid drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943, who finds himself not only afraid of the challenge of being a good solider, but fearful of his feelings towards his comrade, Mitch. A friendship leads to a kiss; then to a relationship basked in denial. As the story unfolds, it shows that a gay relationship is no exception to norm -- especially when it comes to the challenge of making it work.

entre nova iorque e a índia
Amanhã nas bancas... mais uma L+Arte. Este número é especial para mim. Tem uma entrevista que fiz ao fotógrafo Marcus Leatherdale.
Marcus nasceu no Canadá e nos anos 80 andou em Nova Iorque a fotografar a in-crowd - como uma tal de Madonna (aqui em cima fotografada pelo próprio Marcus), numa altura em que era praticamente desconhecida. Hoje em dia Marcus vive no meio da selva, perdido algures na Índia e dedica-se a fotografar tribos ancestrais. Passa temporadas em Lisboa e foi numa delas que o apanhei e tive uma das mais interessantes conversas com um artista de que guardo memória. Para ler e descobrir ainda neste número o talento de Margarida Mendes.

lisboa é liiiiiiiiinda!

Ver musicais da Broadway filmados secretamente por espectadores mais loucos do que eu. E já há de tudo desde o meu Phantom até aos mais recentes Tonys. (Imagino que lá por New York existam uns ciganitos na rua a venderem isto por cinco dólares...) De qualquer maneira, ontem foi o Xanadu, baseado no filme com a Olivia Newton-John. Já conhecia a banda sonora e a adaptação para espectáculo parece-me bem. E há muito patinador em discoteca dos anos 70. Que mais se pode pedir?
É claro que nada substitui estar ali ao vivo depois de umas horas em filas para ver espectáculos em cena há décadas.

Madonna has been inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a star-studded ceremony in New York.
The 49-year-old thanked her detractors in an acceptance speech, including those who 'said I couldn't sing, that I was a one hit wonder'.
Madonna received her honour at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel from singer Justin Timberlake.
'The world is full of Madonna wannabes. I might have even dated a couple,' he said. 'But there is truly only one Madonna.'
The singer recalled a teacher who encouraged her to follow her dreams at the age of 14, adding that she is still lucky to have people spurring her on.
As for her critics over the years, she said: 'They inspired me because they made me question myself repeatedly and pushed me to be better.'
'I have gone on to do so many things in my life, from writing children's books, to designing clothes, to directing a film. But for me it always does, and it always will, come back to the music, so thank you,' said the singer.
Madonna and Timberlake then shared an anecdote of how the pop star gave him a vitamin injection herself after asking him to remove his trousers.

Gosto muito da série Gossip Girl, a passar actualmente e em cima do momento na AXN, também com o final suspenso por causa da greve. Miúdos ricos, betos Gant e elas com muitas extensões. Giros, mázinhas e pais com quase a idade dos filhos. Tudo isto com New York por trás e o meu novo tv hunk, Penn Badgley. (suspiro)
